RECRUITMENT NOTICE

JRS (Jesuit Refugee Service) Cameroon is looking for two females monitoring agents perfectly bilingual to support internally displaced people in Yaounde.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization working in more than 50 countries with the mission of accompanying, serving and defending the rights of refugees or forcibly displaced persons. JRS has been present in Cameroon since January 2015.
PROPOSED CONDITIONS

  • Duration: 6 months renewable depending on performance and availability of funds.
  • Trial period: 1 month.
  • Type of contract: CDD under Cameroonian law
  • Start of mission: as soon as possible
  • Remuneration: salary aligned with the JRS salary grid.
  • Health insurance: medical coverage, 24 hours assistance.

Introduction

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organization related to the Society of Jesus in Cameroon (COJECAM). Founded in 1980, JRS works in 56 countries around the world. Our mission is to accompany, serve and advocate the cause of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons.

General goal of the position:

Under the supervision of the JRS Project Coordinator, the monitoring agent provides educational, psychosocial accompaniment and economic support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) from North West and South West regions in Yaounde.
Expected tasks:

With the support of the JRS Project Coordinator:


Education:
  • She takes part into in the planning and preparation of the weekly activities of the project;
  • She plans and carries out monthly interviews and visits of parents and students at home, and in different primary and secondary schools identified by the project.
  • She ensures constant monitoring (2 visits per month) of students in primary and secondary schools and at home, particularly those in difficulty;
  • She organizes meetings at least once a month with the parents of the students and their community;
  • She collaborates with teachers and education personals in schools

Psychosocial support:
  • She establishes a framework for listening and psychosocial follow-up/support for girls and women victims of trauma, through rehabilitation activities such as: individual interviews, group and individual counseling, focus groups and individual case management.
  • She works in partnership with Ministries of Social Action (MINAS) and that of Women Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF), with a view to finding comprehensive and sustainable solutions
  • She facilitates access to the local health care in case of emergency
  • She assesses and strengthens the well-being of girls and women and taking part in the project.
  • She addresses any concerns/difficulties identify to her supervisor and the competent services alerts.
  • She proposes actions of mediation, negotiation and possibly psychosocial support’ tools.
  • She provides psychosocial follow-up for youth.

Livelihoods:
  • She assesses the socio-economic environment and identifies promising sectors to establish a sustainable and individual income-generating activity (IGA) in collaboration with the community and the social-economic local actors.
  • She supports young girls and women in vulnerable situations in setting up incomegenerating activities (IGA)
Reporting and evaluation:

In coordination with the JRS Project Supervisor :
  • She participate to the JRS national team weekly and monthly meetings in Yaounde
  • She writes social reports, reports of visits, meetings, as well as weekly and monthly activity reports sent to her hierarchy;
  • She participate in the identification of problems and new opportunities related to the project; ▪ She helps in the evaluation of the expected results of the project.

Required profile:

Qualifications

  1. Speak and write perfectly in English and in French
  2. Academic qualification: Minimum bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Psychology, Pedagogy other related subject
  3. Work experience of at least 02 years in the field of social assistance
  4. Ability to write reports of activities, meetings, interviews, visits.
  5. Attitude and professional behavior: ability to work in a team, autonomy in the performance of one's duties, dynamism, honesty, sense of organization
  6. Perfect command of computer tools and basic software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet).
