Main objective |
- Provide psychological support and attendance to individual protection cases identified with mental or emotional disorders, referred internally or externally
- Conduct individual diagnosis and assessment of psychological disorders to identify treatment and therapy needs
- Ensure complementarity between psychological and physical treatment of wounded persons and survivors of gender-based violence through referral and follow-up.
- Conduct regular mapping of available psychological and psychosocial support services available in the area of assignment.
- Develop partnerships with humanitarian service providers for referral of and support to person with psychological distress resulting from incidents of violence.
- Develop individual assistance plans and conduct individual and group psychological counselling sessions utilizing specialized techniques
- Document progress on cases, maintaining strict consent and confidentiality protocols, and ensure that data protection protocols are respected
- Facilitate internal trainings to protection staffs on the provision of psychological first aid and basic psychosocial counselling as part of their case management routine
- Facilitate trainings for internal protection staffs and members of community committees on psychological and psychosocial first aid (PFA)
- Strengthen community based psychosocial support and peer support group activities
- Work in close collaboration with technical staffs (Project Manager, Protection Officer and GBV specialist) for the development of the project's overall PSS component
- Provide coaching and support to the field staffs in the implementation of structured PSS activities
- Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to: do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability and need-to-know principles
- Support the Protection Officer in developing and/or updating protection tools and training materials in order to meet projects requirements
- Support Project Manager/ Program Manager/Head of Base in developing required donor reports, providing relevant insights on psychological and psychosocial issues related to protection of civilians
- Establish and maintain collaborative relations with relevant partners and other project stakeholders working in the project areas
- Proactively participate in relevant coordination meetings, as requested by the supervisor

Competences |
- Master Degree in Psychology or social science
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in NGO
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, outlook)
- Adaptability and readiness to carry out numerous field trips
- Analytical and reporting skills
- Respect and adherence to protection principles
- Capacity to work under pressure, flexibility
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- English and Pidgin
- Knowledge of French (written and spoken) is an asset
