Position: BSFP (Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program) Coordinator

Department & Location: Program Unit Maroua & Program Unit Garoua

Reports to (position): ERM with technical link to the Nutrition Advisor.

Purpose:

The project is about providing support to the national program of fight and prevention of malnutrition amongst under five children, pregnant and lactating women through Blanket supplementary feeding program adding to an in-house sensitive response from Plan International Cameroon known as Positive deviance hearth with financial and technical the support of Word Food Program and Plan Canada.

The project’s falls into CP 25 and 27 related health and protection activities.

Dimensions of Role:

This project will be implemented with an integration of Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) in the Far North with 05 Health Districts of Maroua 1,2,3 Tokombere, Gazawa, in the North with 02 Health Districts of Lagdo and Guider, in the East with 02 Health Districts of Nguelemendouka and Doume targeting about 4931 Children de 6 to 23 months, Children de 6 to 59 months and 7,365 PLW (Pregnant and lactating Women) for a period of 12 months in Far north and North and 6 months in East region .

About 20 People will respond directly to the holder of the position and will be directly involve as both Plan Staff (DS) and Service providers (FNA) to Plan International Cameroon in the implementation of the project in projects locations in the three PUs.

Typical Responsibilities - Key End Results of Position:

The Project Coordinators will among many other tasks perform the following:

- Oversee the overall project implementation of the project and staff performance

- Contribute to Nutrition assessment operations in implementing zones, interpretation & reporting.

- Identify data sources for capturing project performance and impact indicators, in conjunction with the project team.

- Gather, analyse and share relevant data/information with the project team and donors

- Ensure that the purpose of the M&E framework is being achieved and enabling decision-making on the project progression and development

- Ensure data tracking and reporting: Draft and submit regular project reports.

- Ensure all logistics and related activities are prepared accordingly

- Ensure effective and efficient distribution of food items to beneficiaries.

- Oversee the post-distribution processes and prepare the next distribution

- Organize regular jointed meeting with stakeholders to be able to exchange vital information on the project.

- Identify capacity gaps and ensure capacity enhancement of District Supervisors and Food nutrition Assistant.

- Draw up objectives towards performance evaluation of District Supervisors

Dealing with Problems:

The holder of the position has no authorization and will liaise with PU’s finance and Administrative department for all related finance and administrative procedures under the leadership of PIA. But his proactveness will be key in planning and implementation of projects activities.

Communications and Working Relationships:

The Nutrition Coordinator should maintain a good collaboration and communication with technical and financial partners (WFP, UNICEF) and Create good collaboration channel and involvement of all stockholders at regional level (Ministry of health , Administrative Authorities, Mayors, Civil society Organisation, Platforms …)

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

- Nutritionist by profession and holder of Master degree in nutrition

- Understands the main processes and methods of both specific (BSFP, ANJE) and sensitive responses to malnutrition.

- Demonstrate good knowledge on logistic and stock management

- Possesses basic knowledge of INGO s policies and procedures

- Demonstrates good knowledge of information technology

- Minimum of one (1) year work experience in research and evaluation, planning, participatory monitoring and evaluation, and developing community development projects

- Extensive knowledge of emergency nutrition work

- Ability to speak, read and write French fluently and proven ability and willingness to learn other languages

- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office including words, excel, internet etc).

Physical Environment and Demands:

Ability to work under pressure and in remote area and in zones were security issues is a concern

Level of Contact with Children:

Mid contact: Occasional interaction with children

Location: Based in Maroua also coordinating activities in Garoua
