The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) MEXT Scholarship is available in three categories:
- Research students
- Undergraduate students
- College of Technology students
Eligible Field of Study:
Those who wish to study through the Japanese Government Scholarships as an undergraduate student must choose a field of major from (1) or (2) below. Applicants may enter a first, second, and third choice.
(1) Social Sciences and Humanities: Social Sciences and Humanities-A: Laws, Politics, Pedagogy, Sociology, Literature, History, Japanese language, and others. Social Sciences and Humanities-B: Economics and Business Administration.
(2) Natural Sciences: Natural Sciences-A: Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry), Electrical and Electronic Studies (Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering), Mechanical Studies (Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture), Civil Engineering and Architecture (Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering), Chemical Studies (Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Textile Engineering), and other fields (Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Biotechnology).
Natural Sciences-B: Agricultural studies (Agriculture, Agricultural Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Forestry, Food Science, Fisheries), Hygienic studies (Pharmacy, Hygienics, Nursing), and Science (Biology).
Natural Sciences-C: Medicine, and Dentistry.
Eligibility Criteria
- For Undergraduates, only for students with Natural Sciences, A' Level leavers with A in Mathmatics, and be born between April 2, 1994 and April 2, 2002
- For College of Technology students, A' Level leavers, with a minimum of B in Mathematics and at least two principal passes, and be born between April 2, 1994 and April 2, 2002
- For students in the research cycle, they must have been born on or after April 2, 1984. University Graduates with 1st class or Upper 2nd Class Honours Degree or Masters Degree.
Constitution of the files
For undergraduate students:

- Academic transcripts for all years (from school or university)
- Diploma or certificate of completion of the school or university attended.
- A letter of recommendation from the Principal, Director, or a Teacher from the last attended school (Click here to download the model letter of recommendation required)
- A medical certificate filled out and signed by a medical doctor (Click here to download the model medical certificate required)
- Certificate of Registration (not required, only for those currently enrolled in a University)
- Certificate of the University Registration Qualification Exam (not required, only for those who pass the University Registration Qualification Exam)
- Certificate of Language Proficiency (not mandatory, only if the candidate has documents attesting fluency in Japanese or English, submit 2 copies, no original document required)
For College of Technology students

- Diploma or certificate of completion of the school or university attended.

For Research students

- Academic transcripts for all years of university
- Diploma or certificate of completion of the university attended.
- A letter of recommendation from the Dean of the University attended, or academic supervisor / supervisor (Click here to download the model letter of recommendation required)
- A medical certificate filled out and signed by a competent doctor (Click here to download the model medical certificate required)
- Summary of theses (only for candidates who have already written a thesis)
- Certificate of Language Proficiency (not mandatory, only if the candidate has documents attesting fluency in Japanese or English, submit 2 copies, no original document required)
- Letter of recommendation from the employer (only if the candidate is currently employed)
- Photograph showing the artist's own artwork or digital recorded media performance of the candidate (only if the candidate is from the arts and culture fields)

Registration deadline: June 6, 2018 at the latest at 4 pm
Cameroonian candidates will have to send their applications to the following address:
Cultural Section, Embassy of Japan in Cameroon 1513, Rue 1828, Bastos-Ekoudou, BP 6868, Yaoundé
Applicants from other countries will have to submit their applications to the Japanese diplomatic representation of their countries
NB: Only short-listed candidates will be contacted and will communicate the details of the written exam by June 20, 2018.
